Digital Blog C

This week's reading dealt with the reality that the digital learning environment is much different that that of our predecessors.  We as educators should not be intimidated by this, on the contrary, we will capitalize on technology in order to more effectively reach our students.

The following presentation, Just the tip of the ice burg., is a summary of my interpretation regarding three of the topics covered in the reading. It covers three topics I found of particular interest. Teacher vs. Student centered learning, Communicating and Collaborating, and Developing Digital Citizens.

  1. Terrific Prezi with a nicely organized and informative reflection on the selected concepts. :) I also like that you added some of the other visual enhancements - even though the template is a good one. The only change on the attributions is to be sure to be complete and accurate, i.e., the YouTube videos needs: YouTube listed as the publisher, the year and the URL. And for your Prezi, please embed it in your blog rather than hyperlinking it (when you look at your Prezi, you should see "EMBED" right underneath it - copy that code and then paste it in your blog, but you need to do it in the HTML tab. See my tutorial via the link in the assignment page - under 'Submit it"

Your comments regarding teacher vs student centered learning are so appropriate as we move from the traditional classroom designed to teach content that is more focused on standardized testing to a more personalized approach to learning with an emphasis on hands-on creative learning. Technology can really be an equalizer in trying to differentiate for individual student needs. It is good to know you've had such good experiences in your own transition.
